ASB started its operations in Greece in response to the Refugee crisis which hit this part of Europe during 2016. The main office for Greece is located in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece. ASB has been actively involved in the provision of humanitairan aid since the begining of the refugee crisis through the implemenation of humanitarian aid projects in Germany, Slovenia, Serbia, FYRoM and decided to expand its activities to Greece upon the outbreak of the crisis in this country. The ASB Greece office has officially been opened in June 2016.
Currently, ASB Greece is implementing two major projects funded by the European Union (DG ECHO) and the German Federal Foreign Ministry. Both projects aim at the provision of needed support to the refugee population.
The EU funded ECHO project aims at providing:
- Shelter for 1,000 refugees in Northern Greece
- Primary Medical Care to the same population as well as
- Social Services.
The project started on 1st June 2016 and is being implemented by ASB in cooperation with its project partners:
- ARSIS Greece
- WAHA International.
The project funded by the German Foreign Federal Office is a regional project where ASB implements activities in three countries: Serbia, FYRoM and Greece. In Greece the project is being implemented in cooperation with ARSIS Greece and focusses on the provision of:
- Humanitairan Aid
- Provision of social services
- Activities with refugee youth through Youth centres and care-taking of Unaccompanied Minors.
