ASB Foreign Aid:

ASB Foreign Aid Department provides both direct emergency relief to people hit by man-made or natural disasters and longer-term rehabilitation measures designed to promote recovery and to rapidly help restore the livelihood of refugees, internally displaced persons and other vulnerable people. ASB currently has a portfolio of more than 50 relief, rehabilitation, development and DRR projects in countries like Niger, Nicaragua, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Nepal, Haiti, Georgia, Ukraine, Iraq and Greece.

ASB Greece:

ASB started its activities in Greece in March 2016, focusing on the provision of Humanitarian Aid to refugees/migrants. In 2017 ASB Greece built the technical facilities and shelters for the Diavata camp. In 2018, ASB Greece acquired three accommodation sites in the Epirus Region (Katsikas, Filippiada and Doliana). In 2019, ASB with the funding of the Directorate – General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Union (DG HOME) and in coordination with IOM is implementing the “Improving the Greek Reception System Through Site Management Support and Targeted Interventions in Long – Term Accommodation Sites” project. The project focuses on Site Management Support (SMS) services and includes Protection and Non-Formal Education. The ASB country office is based in Thessaloniki, while the Epirus regional office is in Ioannina.

2. Job Overview/Summary:

The Social Worker will work as part of a GBV/CP Mobile Team and will be responsible for providing direct case management and psychosocial services, including group-based psychosocial activities through service delivery units to conflict-affected and displaced population, children and survivors of GBV.

3. Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide age-appropriate case management to survivors of GBV, including assessment of client needs; basic crisis counselling; supporting clients in developing a plan to address their individual needs and safely implementing this plan; support to clients in pursuing services from other service providers as per clients’ wishes
  • Provide services to adolescent girl survivors of GBV, including case management, age appropriate engagement and decision-making by survivors, Do No Harm analysis, and safety planning
  • Provide group psychosocial support; facilitate sessions focused on building awareness of different themes related to their wellbeing, safety planning, and deliver key messages on GBV
  • Provide essential information on available services and support survivors in navigating the referral pathways and accessing services
  • Lead age-appropriate and specialized group emotional services for adolescent girls through identified or established safe spaces.
  • Carry out community outreach and awareness raising on available services and key messages on Protection.
  • Identify concerns related to and support adherence to GBV referral protocols and GBV guiding principles and bring these concerns to the Senior Protection Officer.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including community leaders and other humanitarian partners and service providers.
  • Document all program and client activity in an accurate and timely manner using standardized tools and forms
  • Complete weekly and monthly activity reports, according to guidance provided by the Senior Protection Officer. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure successful implementation of plan.

Training & Development:

  • Conducting training activities and providing administrative follow-up

Administration:

  • Drafting, updating and formatting documents such as reports, notes and presentations
  • Keeping and updating all Case Management files with all the relevant hardcopies.
  • Document all program and client activity in an accurate and timely manner using standardized tools and forms.

Other:

  • Any other task as required by the Sr. Protection Officer and Protection Manager
  • During his/her work, uphold all relevant ASB standards, codes of conduct, and humanitarian principles;
  • Act in a way that is sensitive to gender, protection, the environment and other important cross-cutting concerns;
  • Fully comply with the ASB HR procedures.

7. Requirements:

  • Greek National, or legally allowed to work in Greece;
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Gender Studies, etc.) and minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Master’s Degree in relevant field.
  • Strong experience in case management of refugee population, social work, women’s health, or other related field
  • Clear understanding of and interest in the wellbeing of vulnerable population and supporting their healing after the experience of violence
  • Understanding of case management, psychosocial support and life skills programming to promote survivor healing and recovery
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients
  • Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting
  • Strong ability to maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, and work in a difficult environment
  • Fluency in English required, knowledge of Greek would be an asset
