ASB Germany

ASB Foreign Aid

ASB Foreign Aid Department provides both direct emergency relief to people hit by man-made or natural disasters and longer-term rehabilitation measures designed to promote recovery and to rapidly help restore the livelihood of refugees, internally displaced persons and other vulnerable people. ASB currently has a portfolio of more than 50 relief, rehabilitation, development and DRR projects in countries like Niger, Nicaragua, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Nepal, Haiti, Georgia, Ukraine, Iraq and Greece.


ASB Greece

ASB started its activities in Greece in March 2016, focusing on the provision of Humanitarian Aid to refugees/migrants. In 2017 ASB Greece built the technical facilities and shelters for the Diavata camp. In 2018, ASB Greece acquired three accommodation sites in the Epirus Region (Katsikas, Filippiada and Doliana). In 2019, ASB with the funding of the Directorate – General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Union (DG HOME) and in coordination with IOM is implementing the “Improving the Greek Reception System Through Site Management Support and Targeted Interventions in Long – Term Accommodation Sites” project. The project focuses on Site Management Support (SMS) services and includes Protection and Non-Formal Education. In 2020 ASB with the funding of the Directorate – General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Union (DG HOME) and in coordination with IOM will implement the Program “Supporting the Greek Authorities in Managing the National Reception System for Asylum Seekers and Vulnerable Migrants (SMS)”.   . The ASB country office is based in Thessaloniki, while the Epirus regional office is in Ioannina.


  1. Job Overview/Summary:

The MEAL/Information Management Officer is – under the supervision of the Senior MEAL/IM Officer – responsible for all aspects of Monitoring and Evaluation Accountability and Learning of ASB Greece’s projects. This also includes Accountability and Learning. S/he will support the design and implementation of a countryspecific MEAL/Information Management strategy, analyse and disseminate information on the population of concern to the Country Office. Where information gaps exist, the MEAL/Information Management Officer may help setting up primary data collection systems and organise needs assessments, which may also involve other stakeholders. For this it is required that the Officer is able to coordinate and communicate well with the teams in the field, while keeping a professional objectivity towards the results and impact of the actions. S/he supports the programme team in setting up systems and mechanisms for monitoring the projects’ indicators, deliverables and regularly gathering stakeholders’ feedback.



  1. Job duties and responsibilities


Program monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning


Support the drafting of the daily, monthly, weekly, quarterly, and annual progress reports towards the donors and ASB HQ for all projects of ASB in Greece.
Ensure accurate and timely collection of program data from the field
Participate in planed surveys, either internally or externally (through consultancy) and enhance the quality of the survey reports generated
Support the development and strengthening of an effective feedback and complaint referral system and coordination mechanisms
Support evidence-based learning across ASB Greece and ensuring documentation and dissemination.
Deliver/assist the field teams with ensuring MoVs when required
Participate in annual reviews and planning workshops and assist the head of MEAL in preparing relevant reports.



Information Management


Develop and manage database systems for monitoring and evaluation and generate periodic reports to inform and guide programme
Crosscheck and finalize month end verification activity through use of the Donor’s Database for physical beneficiary verification activity
Work closely with the IM technical supervisor on the difficult issues identified.
Assist field activities when required (info sessions, verification, help desk)
Undertake other duties within capacity as directed by the line manager.
Perform advisory and technical assignments in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Identify appropriate secondary data and information resources.

Required qualifications

− University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Informatics, data management, engineering, International development), or any other degree(If the candidate doesn’t have the desired educational background, but has the desired practical experience needed, s/he can still apply). − Proactivity, with a sound commitment to teamwork and with a spirit of genuine collaboration

− Strong initiative and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to humanitarian principle and high sense of ethics, and ability to cope with high workload and stress

− Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

− Commitment to the values, vision, and mission of ASB and the Core Humanitarian Standards.

− Commitment and respect of the ASB Code of Conduct.



Technical skills and knowledge


− Strong IT skills – related to data management: working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SharePoint lists, Microsoft Forms, Google Forms, Google Sheets, and Kobo Toolbox is a must.

− Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Apps, SQL, VBA, and/or Python will be considered as a strong advantage.



Reports to: 

− MEAL/IM or Country Director ASB Greece.



− Ideally a minimum of 3 year in a similar position.

− Experience in data collection and information management procedures

− Experience of work in a humanitarian context, NGOs or international organizations is a strong advantage




− Greek National, or legally allowed to work in Greece.

− Fluent in Greek, English (spoken and written), German would be an asset. − Patience, a ‘can-do’ mentality, and a good sense of humour.
