Following his visit Fleckenstein stated that he was “impressed by the good work, professional and empathetic, the ASB staff is doing there day by day”, adding that he appreciates “the good cooperation with all partners and state authorities”.

On ASBs new cooperation with the EU Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG Home) Mr Fleckenstein stated that he hopes “the cooperation with DG Home will be as positive, flexible and successful as it was with DG ECHO”. In 2019 ASB will continue its services towards refugees in all sites in Greece with the support of DG Home and in partnership with IOM and DRC.

Knut Fleckenstein and his family assisted in the packaging of food items and toys that were later distributed to the refugees by the ASB team.
